Special Projects

As many people know, most musical instruments used in Europe originated in the Near
or Middle East; and over the last fifteen years I have worked on a number of instrument-making projects which aim to highlight the connections, rather than the differences, between our culture and those of other countries.

Some of these projects are on-going; with one or two new ones in the pipeline; and we are also involved in some based in this country which are intended mainly to give people better access to our own traditional music. I have given talks about some of these projects in the past, with slides and music, for schools and other groups - if you would like me to give a talk to your group or school, do get in touch.

Brief outlines of some of these projects have been given below; and we hope to gradually expand this section of the website in future, to include more information and pictures.
